Following a report from the WSJ, a new report from Bloomberg today mentions that the iPhone 7 to be introduced in 2017 may not feature “Home button”.

WSJ earlier had mentioned that Apple wants to create a device that has a full single piece of glass on the front. More reports earlier in the month have claimed that Foxconn is developing all-glass casing for an upcoming iPhone. KGI has also had a reported on the next iPhone plans, noting that the company is working towards an all-glass design similar to that of the iPhone 4.

The new iPhone 7 model could use ‘force touch’ screen and built in fingerprint sensor instead. The move would allow the entire front of the gadgets to become a screen. Instead of a button, fingerprint sensors would be built into the screen to allow the firm#s Touch ID system to work.

‘Apple is internally developing touch and display driver integration (TDDI) single-chip solutions for its iPhones, according to sources in Taiwan’s IC design industry,’ claimed DigiTimes

It’s still unclear as to how Apple will make up for the lack of a Home button, but the functionality is likely to be implemented into the home screen in one way or another.

Earlier in May LG announced technology which allows a smartphone display to be used as a fingerprint sensor therefore eliminating the need for a separate button altogether. LG states this technology will be ready for commercial products “within the year”.

Apple’s next iPhone will be released on September 25th, it has been revealed by Vodafone.
