The India Portugal Startup Hub was recently launched by India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa during Mr. Modi’s visit to Portugal in June 2017.
The India-Portugal International Startup Hub (IPISH) platform has been jointly developed by Startup India in collaboration with Startup Portugal to strengthen and foster the connection between the startup ecosystem of the two countries. The platform can be accessed via the web and Android and iOS apps.
The Hub aims to be a dynamic and interactive platform that will facilitate learning and development, networking, mentorship, and funding for startups. The platform will help startups and enablers connect with the Indian and Portuguese startup ecosystem. It provides several tools and information on the startup hotspots of Bengaluru, Delhi and Lisbon. It also gives data on associated subjects, including – government initiatives, policy, tax system, and visa process. Furthermore, it will develop a Go-To-Market Guide to support startups. The idea behind the platform is to aggregate different offerings of the ecosystem and enable discovery by the right audience.
“IPISH is expected to help in mutual capacity building, and enable connections between startups, investors, and incubators from relevant sectors. It is also expected to establish a network of honorary ambassadors based in India and Portugal to guide startups from both countries.” – PM Modi
Indian startups and investors pursuing an international strategy can benefit from IPISH through a successful soft landing in Portugal, as a starting point for European expansion.
“The Hub has also aggregated over 50 relevant government schemes or programs. In the next phase, the platform will also aggregate schemes available across various state governments. To provide a better user experience, the platform has been enabled to build smart intelligence along with Chatbots to automatically collate, update information, and respond to queries,” Sitharaman had said while inaugurating the portal.
