Google CEO, Sundar Pichai revealed via a tweet earlier in the day that Google Duo, a competitor to Facetime and other popular 1 on 1 video based messenger apps like IMO and Facebook Messenger has surpassed 5 million installs in just 1 week!

It was also rumoured that Google Duo will soon support audio-only calls, according to a Google employee, in responding to a question on Google+, Amit Fulay – Google’s Product Lead for Communication – confirmed that audio-only calls will come to Duo “soon.” Audio-only option is a feature that is already supported by Duo’s main competitors such as FaceTime, Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger. Audio-only calls are especially useful when you don’t want to consume too much data. Or when it’s just simply not appropriate to video chat.
Unlike FaceTime, however, Duo is available for both Android and iOS.
